Professional Painter and Instructor
Rod dedicated five years of study at the Art Students League in New York City and is a life member. His paintings have been represented by several distinguished art galleries throughout New England and New York. He is a member of the lucrative Salmagundi Club located in New York City and his painting “Crawford Notch” was awarded best in show in the 2006 Salmagundi Member’s Exhibition and his painting “Steven’s Brook” was chosen in 2011 for the 128th annual Member’s Exhibition.
He has studied landscape oil painting with master painter Frank Mason. He has also perfected the art of creating gold leaf gilded frames and includes them on request for specific commissions or gallery showings. He restores these treasured frames for organizations and private collections. In addition to landscape painting, he is a fine arts instructor at St. Johnsbury Academy, a private boarding school in northeastern Vermont. He is also a volunteer firefighter for the Peacham Fire Department and a former Trustee for the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum.
